drum module midi response time

This is being posted in keys forum and not drums. I remember KEYBOARD mag doing a test of various drum modules to determine any midi lag in the early 90s or earlier. With numerous budget drum machines out today being used with pad to midi boxes have any more tests been undertaken and published? My preferred cost effective combo is a Roland PM-16 tickling a Zoom MRT3B. The Zoom unit has a footswitch hihat toggle feature that compensates for the Roland pad to midi unit which does not have such a feature. I picked up about five PM16s for a school and all under $100. The Zoom can be had for about $75 on ebay. That matches any ebay rendered Alesis D4 or DM5. My own personal setup is a Boss DR770 controlled by a ridicuously programmed KAT midiKITI Pro with crazy sample stacking/layering/switching. Any input regarding certified testing of midi transmitting and receiving between piezo pad and sound module will be appreciated. John Poole, see wyncoteacademy.org faculty if curious.
