Members ckett
Hello, I am looking into a Yamaha Motif XS. I am trying to figure out the true polyphony of this thing. It states it has 128 notes of polyphony. I understand that each Voice is made up of 8 elements. Does this mean that each Voice = 1 note of Polyphony or is each Element that makes up a Voice = 1 note of Polyphony. So if i design a Voice that has 4 Elements every key I play takes up 4 notes of Polyphony. Thanks and hope to clear this up!
Members kpatz
Each element takes up one note of polyphony. Also, stereo samples take up 2 notes, so a single voice consisting of 8 elements w/stereo waveforms can chew up 16 notes of polyphony. Most voices don't use all 8 elements at once though. They are usually split or velocity switched, or switched via AF buttons.
