Argh, the unintended consequence of my computer upgrade: My Tracktion no longer runs. I had one of the awesome "giveaway licenses" they had some years ago and bugger all if I can get it to license on this machine.

Buying software for music goes against everything I am, but I need the damned thing for that last 5% of my process. Anyone selling their unused copy?

Mackie as a brand tanked after they sold out. Now its all made in China.

None could argue its not the maverick (gosh I hate using that word) company it was in the the 90's. Their biggest mistake was getting into the digital console arena- Yamaha creamed them, if for no other reason, their product actually worked. Now the HRH24's are made in China and sound like {censored}. Their flagship 1604VLZ isn't as nearly reliable as the 1st runs. Their days have regrettably passed as they were at one time one of the best USA-made company for semi-pro gear.

Mackie appear to be in
even more
trouble now, as their parent company, "Loud Technologies", has received an out-of-compliance letter from NASDAQ, and recently have laid off a significant percentage of their staff.

Yeah. The Mackie corporate headquarters is just up the street from me. I considered trying to get a job there at one point. Now, ....mmm, maybe not.

One of the guys at the recent PNW Synth meeting was a Mackie employee and is one of victims of the recent layoff. Sucks.

We also have Rane and Symetrix in the area. Not sure how they are faring.

Tracktion was originally created by a gentleman named Jules, I bought one of the early versions when he posted on KvR. He continued developing it, much of it from suggestions by his early users.

He had nearly completed Tracktion 2 when Tracktion was bought by Mackie,Jules stayed on to continue development, so you could say at least for a moment someone at Mackie recognized a good product.

I've always loved Tracktion because it allows you to focus on the music and not have to pull down endless menus to lay some tracks down. Set up midi and/or audio and BAM! you can lay down some tracks.

It never tried to compete with the FruityLoops or Cakewalks where a lot of sequencing was being used, brilliant product as far as I'm concerned.

I never bothered upgrading after version 2, works fine for me but $49USD is a helluva deal.

Made in USA, don't you wish we could get back to that idea? in the current economic climate, wages are going down, even the UAW has taken significant cuts in wages and benefits.

If we could get everyone to do it, it seems it would be cheaper to make the stuff here than pay for all the shipping prices for stuff to come from China.

Not knocking the Chinese or it's people, I just wish we could keep more jobs here.

We're so screwed it's unbelievable. Thank the "government" (i.e. international bankers and multi-national corporate elitists) for giving the manufacturing industries tax breaks and incentives to move operations off shore.

This is clearly about weakening and bankrupting the middle class into 3rd world level poverty. Think you can run an economy on Starbucks and Best Buy? $14.8 trillion to the banks!?!!? In a few years you won't give a damn about voting or the few rights you have left when you're living in a goddamn cardboard box trying to feed your family day to day. Meanwhile militarized police in black BDUs and riot gear are pointing H&K MP5s at your face when you start getting upset about it.

It's a shame they're making their goods in China now.

Et tu Mackie? Et tu?

I also use it since day 1, now upgraded to T3. Very straightforward application.
