Members bobc
I have been learning keys for going on 7 weeks now. I have a Casio PX-320 to learn on and would like to step up to something better in a few months. I will be bringing it to open mic nights as well as using it for recording songs. I also play acoustic guitar and sing, and I would be using guitar and vocals both for open mic and recording as well. My questions are... Would I be better off getting a workstation rather than a digital piano? What are the advantages/disadvantages to one over the other? I have been doing some research and found the following so far... Digital piano... Roland RD-700GX Workstation... Roland Fantom G8 I found these to be good choices for the research I have done so far. I am new to keyboards so I would like to know what others think and/or recommend. Thank you in advance, and if I ever hit the lotery, I will buy each and every one of you the keyboard of your choice...

Members Tomkeen
Damn, how many threads have you started in the last two months.... I think it will be best if you ask again in a few months time, when you're ready to get a new board. Maybe some new models will be introduced at the musikmesse that might interest you, maybe prices on a particular board have gone down in that time etc etc. I'm not looking for my next main board, because it doesn't exist yet.. Members Cran Leavis
It sounds as if you need a workstation. Have a look through the youtube demos and product pages for the XS8 , Yamaha Motif XS and Korg M50/M3 to start off with.

Members girevik
The PX-320 has a built-in sequencer. Keep using it and saving your money until you find a good reason to invest in another keyboard.
Members akliner
There is no reason why you would need a Fantom G8 after 7 weeks of playing. The PX320 is an ideal gigging board for smaller venues, also...because you can self-monitor as well as send audio out into the venue's sound system.
