Members Mourndark
Half way through a band practice this evening, my amp packed in. It stopped responding to any of my inputs and produced a constant pitch and volume sine tone regardless of anything plugged into it. I didn't think I was driving it very hard at the time (pres set ~50%, post ~60%) and not using any extreme frequencies. Has anyone had any problems like this and if so, how broken is it (DIY fix/repair shop fix/junkyard)? Many thanks!
Members mate_stubb
The only good Roland KC is a dead Roland KC. Congrats, you now have an excuse to go and find something that sounds better.
Members Mourndark
Sadly that's not really in my budget at the moment without seriously creative insurance claims...
Members Dejavoodoo
If it's still in warranty, then you should have Roland service it. If not, which I suspect, then have it repaired by an authorized dealer. I'd expect to pay about $125 US, depending on the issue and where you live. I would not attempt DIY if you have never done any work like that before, or if you are just not mechanically proficient. Dave: KILLER modular! Just now looked at it! What warp factor do you get out of it?

Members eric
Funny people hate these amps and tons of people still use them. That's mainly driven by availabilty vs. other options. The Roland KCs have become a commodity in this niche, perhaps second to only Behringer and thus the market is saturated with them despite their mediocrity. Very similar to the way many people eat at McDonald's even though the food is not so good.
Members Outkaster
Yeah true I don't see very many other brands out there and we have some decent music stores around here.
Members Mourndark
I've never seen any other keyboard amps in stores, and there really wasn't alot else in that price bracket at the time. (except for Behringer, which I'd already had first hand experience of...) I would say a lot of people actually don't really notice the drop in quality with this sort of amp - often they don't have anything to compare them to.
