Members Peekaboo Fuzzy
I am looking to buy a synth module to couple with a Roland PK-5 Bass Midi controller for John Carpenter style Prophet 5 bass sweeps, like heard in the soundtrack to the film Assault on Precinct 16. I am not sure I can afford a TI so I was wondering how the C is for this type of sound?
Members Metrosonus
you'd probably be happier with a nord lead for that.

Members eric
+1 on the Nord Lead. There is even a bank for the Nord Lead that replicates all the original Prophet 5 factory presets (many of which are iconic and instantly recognizable). The Nord Lead can really nail the Prophet sound and they can be found on the cheap in several varieties.
Members dan88z
Get a PC3X. It's the keyboard to replace all others! just kidding- I agree, the NL series can do some nice P5 sounds. I remember reading or hearing somewhere that is what they were imitating when they developed it. That could be totally wrong of course.
Members tim gueguen
To be picky the synth stuff on Assault on Precinct 13 is Moog modular.
Members Peekaboo Fuzzy
Thanks. It's hard to believe the Access Virus C doesn't have some good P5 emulations tucked in that thing.
Members flat earth
Im sure the Virus C could do some pretty good imitations (I got some reasonable John Carpenter type sounds out of my late Virus Indigo), but as others have pointed out the NL is the best candidate. I also think it pulls off alot of the Juno sounds pretty well. (just wish it had an LCD display )
Members Paolo Di Nicolantonio
ditto... as I recall from 1995, the original Nord Lead was inspired by the Prophet-
Members acidolem
The Plugiator has nice Prophet-5 sounds from the maniacs at Creamware
Members Peekaboo Fuzzy
Thanks. The Creamware Pro 12ASB is there Prophet 5 emulator but it is pretty pricey. Since the nord has been mentioned I have been listening to most of the Nord lead 2x demos on you tube. I really wish, there were better demos, none of the sounds that I have heard thus far seem to be from that P5 bank; I have not yet heard anything remotely resembling John Carpenter Prophet 5 sounds as heard from Halloween, The Fog, etc.
Members eric
Trust us. The Nord Lead can nail the Prophet 5 sound.
Members Peekaboo Fuzzy
Ok, then. I believe you. I just haven't heard any great demos yet.
Members cram1960
The Plugiator contains the same software emulation as the Pro 12 ASB, albeit in a less programmable box (with emulations of the Minimoog, Odyssey, and other synths also included). Deep programming is done through a software interface. Plugiator is also way less expensive than the PRO12 ASB.
