Making a G2 in Reaktor

Take a look at what this guy is doing with Reaktor:

Wow, just wow - amazingly detailed work.

In the thread, he asks for people to send a note to NI for them to include patch cables in Reaktor and gives a link to do it.

I could have sworn that I saw a Reaktor synth with patch cables at one point.

Have you ever seen the software portion of the Clavia G2? Where you patch up your synths/fx before you port them to the keyboard. There's a demo of the software available.

Anyways, he's basically recreating this type of software from within N.I.'s Reaktor program. Lots of work going into the GUI as well.

I guess the G2's discontinued. So maybe this would be a way to try and keep at least the spirit of it going. Of course, it wouldn't be the same without the hardware. You can do some pretty amazing things with Reaktor. I'm not that good with it, but anyways, it's way more work than I'd want to try to do.

Yeah the discontinuance became official months ago.

I'm interested in a Receptor w/ Komplete Inside as a future complement or possible replacement for my G2X.

wait a sec, reaktor is modular.. why are they trying to remake the interface to reaktor?!

It's not 'they', it's just 'him'. Just one guys personal project. And what he's doing is not remaking the interface to reaktor, he's trying to duplicate the interface of the G2 from within reaktor.

Probably easier to get a G2, but it sounds like he has one (or at least the demo), but has found some limitations with it. In the third post on the first page, he explains what he's trying to do. A huge project, but it sounds like he's doing it just for fun or the accomplishment of it.

ew: ya - that's the one I was thinking of. Pretty sure I downloaded it a few years ago when Pighood brought it up.

I was going to say that too at first but didn't really want to put the guy down for enjoying his hobby.

Then I looked at the ensemble that EW posted and I thought a little more and realized that these projects also show off the fact that Reaktor really is more than just a software modular synthesizer. It is a programming environment that specializes in manipulating audio signals. In addition a reduced modular such as Herwig Kraas' Reaktor ensemble has several advantages. First it simplifies the patch programming and makes the synthesizer appear more like a familiar hardware modular. Second it reduces the insanely huge number of Reaktor programming options to a subset of controls that are more manageable to the sound designer. I love lots of options but I often become more creative by working within a restricted set; I basically push myself and whatever synth to create within the limits of the options of the synth. Third one control on the Reaktor ensemble may be routed to multiple functions within the program (including the Core modules) that are removed from me as a user and might take quite a bit of thought indeed to make sound really good.

Cheers!
