Members philw44
Hi guys. Here's My Spec:- A controller for every parameter (or near enough) I want it to be as hands on as possible for live performance. Something like the layout of the Roland SH-201 - At least 49 keys and 8 note polyphony. I'm a bit uncomfortable with anything less. - Veering more towards a smoother virtual analogue sound rather than digital mush. -New or Second hand You can hear the music it'll be for here: http://www.myspace.com/adyhall If you can't be bothered to listen it's for a Pop/Rock/Electro band The synth sounds for this album were actually done with the Xpand plug-in with pro tools and hence sound a bit crap. I've done quite a bit of research and the Roland JP-8000 seems to fit what i'm looking for. I have not played one though and i'm unsure if it's voiced a little bit more towards Dance music? The Novation X-Station has great features too but wasn't too impressed by the youtube vids. Any ideas?
Members evildragon
X-Station is very very nice for the money. Don't judge it only based on Youtube vids, try to go somewhere and play on it. Has a great keybed. Maybe Nord Lead 2(x)?
Members flat earth
Nord Lead 2 Novation X Station Roland SH-201 Were all the choices that leaped to mind here too..... Also an OB-12 can be had quite cheap, and although the sound is subject to taste, it has pretty much the best hands on user interface of any synth imo. Members philw44
I have actually tried out the SH201. Wasn't a fan, sounded too much like a kids toy rather than a serious musical instrument...!
