As we've recently seen with the Roland dramatic fanfare announcement of an announcement of new product/products on such and such date, this type of hype of a new product is counter-productive.

All it does is create rumors and speculation on what it will be, and when the official announcement is released people are let down because it's not x, y or z.

For cripes sake, just make the announcement.:poke:, word of mouth on sites like this and ads will do more than this secret unveiling of Al Capone's vault crap.:blah:

If it were done right, manufacturers would ask what's wanted from people on forums like this.

They'd get mostly unrealistic, costly, fantasy ideas, but even if a consensus isn't reached, they wouldn't put out crap that no one wants.

There's also the issue that a lot of people will say they want something, but change their mind when it comes down to opening their wallet.

well, that's the thing, they sell, what well, sells. and it's mostly keyboards, guitar, drums and performance related equipment.

what would be ideal is if one of these companies started a small consumer research division that addressed these prosumer issues. there's an entire new area of computer based studios that is largely unexplored except for envisioning and trying to shoehorn it with yesterdays technology. that's the new frontier to me.

IMHO soft synths and what aren't the answer. they are fun, but no where near the quality and versatility of workstations like the fantom, m3, viruseses ect.

Well, it's probably not a workstation. The M50 is still new and they extended the promotion for the M3.

New synth? Maybe.

KP3 replacement? Maybe?

What haven't they released in a long time (or ever)?

Maybe a competitor to the V-Accordian ?!?! Boy I hope so! :poke:

But personally, I think countdowns are stupid and usually huge letdowns. Just release the info already. Countdowns don't generate hype... it's not the 50's anymore. There are other things on the internet I'll find interesting and by the time the countdown comes around, I'll have forgotten and moved on. Most people's attention spans are very small now...

It better not be a workstation -- I just bought an M3.

Maybe they're finally updating the Korg Legacy Collection to work properly in 64-bit operating systems. An x64-compatible Wavestation would, after all, be a "New Wave".

What promotion for the M3? The little 1-bit recorder deal?
