Members RazorBlade
It says that the yamaha Yamaha PLG150AN expansion has only 8 notes of polyphony, well, if I add it to a synth (let's say the Cs6x, witch has 64 voices poly. will the expansion sounds still remain the same 8 notes or 8 + 64 = 72 notes of polyphony ? I somehow thought that if you add an expansion board it will expand the polyphony of the keyboard
Members big thing
Actually, it has 5 notes of polyphony, and that's it! That polyphony is added to the polyphony of the host. The PLG cards ADD whatever polyphony they have to the total polyphony of the host, but the card's polyphony doesn't change. (I just realised I miss my AN1X!!) Members evildragon
Whatever the expansion has polyphony, it never changes, it is only added. Meaning, CS6x keeps its 64 voice polyphony, and AN has its 5 voices polyphony. Nothing else changes. If you use AN sound, it will have 5 voice poly, if you use CS6x, it will have 64 voices poly. Members Jez
However, adding multiple AN boards will give you proportionally more polyphony. Unless you just want it for evil lead and bass, you really need two to make it worth bothering with.
Members eric
I have two of the PLG-AN boards in my S90 (have had them for 5-6 years). Seamless 10 voice poly added to the host instrument and a very nice virtual analog sound. Regards,Eric
