Moog LP CV Output Mod...anyone else interested?

Anyone else kind of amazed by this new Moog offering?

I'm somewhat surprised by the lack of enthusiasm here or even on the Moog forum.

I'm sort of thinking it could be a game-changer for me. I've been GASing for a Voyager for a while, but this could sort of change things. Firstly, CV outs seem pretty rare in general. I can't think of another modern synth that has them. Secondly, consider the possibilities, not only the Moogerfoogers, but with other synths... like, even my Kurzweil k2661 has four CV inputs. So I could drive various parameters right from the Moog LP.

Thirdly, CV outputs from the Voyager can only be achieved with the VX- box, which requires installing an additional board. And fourthly, that's not very portable, when you consider setup time, and the fact that the Voyager is forty plus pounds.

Clearly I'm kinda psyched. The only problem is a body has to ship the LP to the Moog factory, and thus have NO Moog action for several weeks. I guess I'll need a backup Moog...maybe a Voyager?

It is awesome, and I am always impressed with how Moog improves their products over time. This general devotion to improvement however, has also made it less crucial for me to get this mod. For example, they updated the firmware on the MP-201 so that the pedal now performs MIDI - CV conversion, meaning that you could plug the LP MIDI out into the MP-201 and get up to 4 channels of MIDI note - CV conversion to play with. At the cost of the pedal it was a not brainer compared to boxing up, shipping and wait for the return of my LP....

That's interesting about the MP-201...But does the LP send, say, filter change data over MIDI? I thought the LP could only transmit note, pitch bend, and maybe mod wheel data. I was unaware you could send something like envelope CV data, or whatever. Am I wrong?

Even if the MP-201 does do that, that adds an additional component that decreases portability. Personally, I'd rather not have another unit on the floor, and if it put it along side the LP, it would feel strange to play a rocker pedal with my hand. But I guess I never really tried...

...hmmm...

I think at this point that it only transmits midi note to CV, but I am unsure. However, the MP-201 also outputs Envelope CV, up to four channels each different if you so choose. I have used the MP along with the Voyager to play my Moogerfooger rig like a keyboarded synth....fun!
