Members Umbra
Sounds a bit like variphrase stuff.
Members Khazul
Oooh - I think theyve added a comb filter and a resonator?, though alot of that can be done already by abusing the chorus and delay Some bit even sounded like the atomizer were bieng used on the virus sound out too. And a bit more impact and balls too - or the demo has been quite processed perhaps?
Members plaid_emu
Who wants to bet you'll only be able to use the "new" OS on a TI2?

Members IBE
At a later time if they somehow put sample ram in it like Waldorf did for the Blofield, it would be so drool:lol::lol: But I am happy as is.
Members Yoozer
Who wants to bet you'll only be able to use the "new" OS on a TI2? Always buy synths as-is. All extra features are just gravy.
Members gordonwiebe
I thought access was pretty well known for being generous with their updates?

Members synthetica
I have wanted a Comb filter on the Virus for sometime. Can't wait
Members Mike Conway
Outstanding! Love these updates. Who wants to bet you'll only be able to use the "new" OS on a TI2? I had no doubt that it would be for all TIs. Access is pretty good about that kind of thing.

I want to believe the glass is half full but so often it looks empty. Anyways, good to know the new OS will be working on my existing synth. Some of those examples are stunning. I wonder how long it might be before the Virus is getting closer to something like Reaktor. I wish Native Instruments (or somebody) would make a piece of hardware that resembles the V-Synth rack or the Arturia Origin with a touch screen and an internal DSP that would run Reaktor and Absynth. It could be kind of a TC Powercore device and function in a stand-alone setting. If nobody else will do it Access might get pretty close one day with the Virus as they continue to add the wacky audio processing features and tons of amazing effects. It would be nice if it could also be an FM synth and sampler as well. I know, I know I'm so greedy. I'll stop now.

Members mildbill
That sure is one snazzy update. Can't wait for it to be released. That made NAMM 2010 for me. Even if I don't hear of anything else.
Members EricM
That made NAMM 2010 for me. Even if I don't hear of anything else. Oh definitely. Each year the only thing I anticipate is the Virus TI's OS update. The rest is meh.
Members daddek
I'll finally be picking up a Virus because of this.
Members Megakazbek
That is great of course, but... WHERE THEHELL IS 3RD ENVELOPE????????????? They steadily add new synthesis/filter/fx types with each update, but can't add the simpliest thing that would immensely increase the synth usability. I don't understand it. With all the Virus synth power, it's a shame that it has got nothing more than basic amp&filter envs.
Members plaid_emu
A 3rd envelope would be very nice but I would also like to see a "program genetics" randomizing/morphing feature like the SoundTower editor for Evolver or Reaktor. I'm actually quite surprised they haven't at least implemented a patch randomize button in Virus Control. I'd rather endlessly click the mouse than wear out the physical buttons on the TI. Members chase
I agree, they need a third envelope (should be 8 stage, time/level style, loopable) and a "high-quality" (no aliasing) mode for the oscillators. The comb filter and new distortion types are nice, but the Virus has been suffering from feature creep for some time now. Wavetables are a lot less fun without a good envelope to sweep them. Members chase
A third envelope would sure be nice but as a workaround you can now use the Arp as a mod source to free up one LFO to run that as an envelope. Only if the LFO was a pulse or stepped waveform. I don't think the arpeggiator can do smooth sweeps, unless there's a smoothing parameter when using it as a mod source (which would sort of address the lack of a "wave envelope").
