HI,

I am brand new to midi as in this is the first time I've ever tried to use it. I have a casio px-100 digital piano with midi in and out, a computer with cubase le for sequencing, and a usb to midi cable. I was hoping to start experimenting putting down some midi tracks, but can't quite figure it out. Cubase shows the usb connection as usb device [emulated] in the usb in and out box. It seems to freeze the program when I select the usb device in the out. Anyone out there know anything that might help me figure out how to set this up. Again I'm very new to this. Thanks.

do you have the latest drivers for the Privia installed? I've got a Juno G and an RD700gx, and the drivers on the G disk were worthless. I installed the latest drivers from Roland, and it all sprang to life. It sounds like a driver issue to me. I use Cubase also, and I choose my KB in the midi setup menu(in/out). If you've got the drivers installed correctly; it should work.

I can't seem to find any information for drivers for the px-100. Is it the keyboard or the cable that would need the drivers?? When I plugged the cable into the computer the computer seemed to recognize the cable and installed it. The device manager calls it a usb device and says it's working properly, however, the only light that lights on the cable is the solid red light for the usb connection no lights flash when I push any keys.

...I just visited the casio site and their FAQ page states that no drivers are needed for the keyboard. the drivers would be for the cable. I think this cable came with the drivers in it already since the computer seemed to recognize it immediately. I tried plugging in an alesis sr-16 to see what would happen and again no lights for midi activity. Does anyone know of a setting that I need to know of in the software that could cause this no lights for activity in the cable, besides of course a defective cable I geuss. Again, I'm new to this so it might be a setting everyone knows about but me. Thanks again.
