Rackmount reverb units - weird question

I love my M-One and it's been trouble free for years. It is by far the easiest reverb unit I've owned to program. I've had Lexicons and Quadraverbs but only the M-One is configurable and editable from the front panel without cracking the manual.

The ears are not part of the front panel and look like they come off cleanly but I'm not attempting it because the thing is buried deep in a ;) rack.

I have the M-One XL and I can't really pull it out of the rack as it would be a huge pain, but it "looks" like the rack ears are removable, but I can't confirm it.

On the quality of this unit, well, personally I think it's one of the best bangs for the buck by far. Sounds great, super quiet, great reverb tails, dual engine. Never had any issues with it. I have the XT running into it and it sounds great. I do wish, though, that the reverb times were a little longer. I think 20 seconds is the max on the reverb engine. I could use a little more for certain ambient/droney applications, but that's why I have the PCM 80... with like minutes of reverb time!

The other bang for the buck - and with removable rack ears from what I can tell - is the Behringer V-Verb Pro. For under a $100 bucks on eBay you get one hell of a reverb. Yes, Behringer.

Look into the Alesis Wedge.

Just my opinion but I've found the Wedge to be way overrated. It's not bad for some of the prices I've seen, but it's nowhere near as clean as the Behringer. Unless I have a crappy Wedge - no pun intended.

not to sound like a wise guy, but you might have to research that at the manufacturers website

I did some googling before posting a silly question. Manufacturers often don't predict the kinds of questions I may throw at them and no wonder as I rarely follow established ways in electronic music and gear setup.

Thanks for great answers and the comments on the MOneXL quality. I may be better off installing DIY wooden side panels instead of removing the ears.
