Sold the silver beast and am moving on to the slim and trim black beauty...the PC361! I will be posting my initial impressions as soon as I get the board which should be monday or tuesday depending on Fed Ex. I have a few basic prelim questions about the Kurz tho:

Does the arranger on the PC361 work similar to the K series where you're stacking SONG patterns into arrangements with part mutes, number of times to play a song, etc. Or is it new? Is it true that 16 arps can be played back within a sequence? Are there any "stock beats" on the PC361...that was one nice feature on the Motif...just dial in a genre or style and....

There's currently a Motif XS-8 on sale for $2000 at the charleston, sc craigslist.

Unfortunately no. The arrangements weren't implemented in the PC3 series. The sequencer was built from scratch not "ported" from the K2600. You can however create individual Riffs and assign each riff to a ZONE in a SETUP. You'd then trigger each riff somehow (key, switch, pedal, whatever).

The K2600 had one ARP setting for each SETUP. The PC3 has an ARP setting for each ZONE in a SETUP (like the RIFFs). So you can have 16 different Arps going on at one time.

Don't think so. If there are, there isn't the focus like there is on the Motif.

So what good is a 16 track sequencer if you can't create loops and stack them and create songs from patterns? Even $100 drum machines do this with ease. SOmeone better explain to me what I am supposed to do with this synth (the sounds of which sound awesome to me) I am a composer and songwriter looking to make this my main sequencer...DO I need to just sell it and buy a used K series again!!! Send help

Talking about the Kurzweil...I've done some basic sequencing on the pc3 and it seems like you will need to become familiar with the track edit functions like COPY and ERASE in order to create a proper song. Listening to the demos like KurzSupremecy it seems like there is potential with this sequencer even if it is somewhat limited without an arranger imho

Now some time has pass are you happy now that you sold the Motif XS for a Kurzweil PC3.

Which is better now to you?

Was your XS a 61, 78, or 88 keys?

I have a XS6 now and will buy a PC3 76 in a day or two. Like to hear from somebody who know about both and had they both.

I went from Motix XS6 to PC361 about 2 months ago and I much prefer the Kurzweil for sound quality, especially the orchestral sounds (quite realistic) but in general all the sounds seem fatter and richer.

Plus you get a virtual analogue VA-1 analogue synth built in and VAST, it is a sound programmers heaven.

I use a DAW for sequencing so I can't comment on the built in sequencing side.

The display on the Kurzweil isn't going to win any awards, it is small but functional.

Build quality is very good, keyboard is responsive and at least as good as the XS and importantly for me the aftertouch is very responsive.
