Members Bernard
UK price has dropped too. They same thing happened with the Alesis originals, ended up dirt cheap. Good synth engines. IF looks iffy

Members TropicThink
One of the best sounding VAs. Too few knobs to be an absolute no brainer, but I might still get one. Not including a USB connection was a bit cheap, though.

Not including a USB connection was a bit cheap, though. I get the impression that the platform (chip ASIC's whatever) is such that adding USB would mean starting over on hardware and software design to get USB compatibility. Far easier to copy the old platform. If they bring out a copy of the ION with an angled screen and the Micron Arp/Sequencer tweaks and phantom editting fixed (surely just a software tweak) that may interest some... Members Tomkeen
Well, at that price... No Tomkeen, you need new monitors and a firewire interface and new rims for your car first. Oh yeah...

Members Thamel
I heard the price drop is due to the Miniak being discontinued.... read it somewhere on gear slutz.... anyway there is a cool review of it here if you want to know more: http://en.audiofanzine.com/analog-modeling-synth/akai/Miniak/editorial/reviews/miniak-on-the-floor.html

Members mildbill
I suppose it's possible that it's been discontinued. But I highly doubt it.It just started shipping one year ago: http://www.akaipro.com/content215206 '...NewsroomAKAI PRO MINIAK SYNTHESIZER NOW SHIPPINGVirtual-Analog Synthesizer with Vocoder Developed in Partnership with Alesis Cumberland, R.I. Members cresshead
just a heads up the Akai miniAk is now discontinued.found out today as a local shop tried to get one in for me to test out.
Members mildbill
Wow. That was a shorter run than the Fusion. It was an altered Micron though, so it's been several years, looked at that way.
Members chadbang
FYI: I wrote an email to Akai on Dec. 20, 2010 regarding the Miniak being discontinued and it is not being discontinued. Here is the response direct from Akai: Hi xxxxx, thanks for your interest in Akai. The MiniAk is definitely not being discontinued. We anticipate selling and supporting this unit for years to come. It is truly an awesome analog synth! Regards, Jay
Members ElectricPuppy
Jay probably should have left off the "analog" part, or prefaced it with "virtual". Ah, sales minions!
Members Bernard
As before, they seem to be doing a similar pricing drop as we saw with the Alesis VA's... The price went back up a bit in the UK (after the Moog SP was announced). Assume they may have hoped for sales to increase as some may see it as a good controller for that. Now it's back down to the very low, you just gotta pick one up or regret it for the rest of your life price.... (UK)
