Korg Radius - RIP ?

I was listening to a pod cast and they mentioned the Korg Radius being blown out. Looking at one online listing in the UK seems only the rack is for sale. The full Radius listed as discontinued. One other store has them though...

End of the line or new model in the wings... ?

Lots of places have lowered the price on them. IMO, they were priced a bit high to begin with. But ya - eventually something else will come out to replace it.

Though market now. They were one of the deeper VA's though...

Yeah, I noticed that the keyboard Radias was gone recently too.

The current market seems to like those tiny cheap synthesizers (blech, but this is coming from a piano player ), so probably the R3 will survive the cut.

I guess the rack is harder to shift. Shame, in the UK they don't blow then out. They normally cling on to old stock for years until someone pays full whack

They had better hurry if Korg is bringing out something new

wouldnt be surprised if Korg came out with a new board, only with the monotron filter. I would like that.

Does the Radias sound better or worse than the MS2000/OGMicroKorg in your opinion?

Worlds better.

The Radias has been the best kept secret in VAs for several years now. A very powerful and underrated synth/vocoder.

i totally agree with zoink. my studio is heavy with old analogs (minimoogs/ob8/xpander/prodigy/pro-one... etc) but the Radias still has much to offer- lots of UI, great sound, ability to work as an effect processor, stellar vocoder.

as with all of the old analogs, i bought the Radias used so it was a bargain.

I don't think "underpowered" is accurate but the sound isn't quite right, but it doesn't sound thin to me at all. What it does sound is digital and overly-compressed. However, adding in some external reverb and eq and you can get some great sounds out of it. Really fun to play with. The sequencer + arp feature is really fun to play with. Well worth the going rate. So, I like them. Not too keen on the look though.
