Members Mediterranean
Disclaimer: this is NOT an official Korg product, nor is the following description a statement from Korg. It's merely an innocent attempt to entertain my KSS friends. "After years of complaints from real keyboard players who have been suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome and significant loss of concert opportunities [audiences in every venue have been complaining about dissonant music ever since the microKORG came out, as well as lack of musical notes on stage due to the limited number of keys], we have finally decided to redesign the microKORG. Sound and feature-wise, the macroKORG is exactly the same as its barely-noticeable tiny brother, but it sports a whopping 61, standard-sized keys. However, and after a heated debate in Tokyo last month, we chose to keep the original front panel design identical to the microKORG's [customers who will upgrade to the macroKORG will not be intimidated by the new machine as it will look familiar to them]. Since all the electronics of the unit are located inside the upper middle part only [from C2 to C5] leaving a good amount of unoccupied space inside the board, we added two padded storage compartments on either side of the keyboard; a first in synth history. The compartment doors open up by pushing down firmly on the aluminum strips [135 degrees when fully opened]. Thanks to a secure locking mechanism, the lids will remain closed even if the unit is flipped upside down [we encourage you to do that often so that we sell more of these units]. These "glove boxes" are perfect for storing loose, small objects or personal items that would otherwise be laying around on top of the unit such as in a live situation: watch, pen, sunglasses, cigarettes, cell phone, the included condenser microphone, cable ties, mini flashlight, etc. Note: being slightly longer, the left compartment door can be used to hold your music notes/sheet music when fully opened. Lastly, there is a new addition on the rear panel of the unit: an XLR input. Thank you very much for being patient for 8 years. We strive to please everyone, even if it takes that long. P.S: instead of wheels, we will include a joystick in only one macroKORG unit. We don't want to lose McHale's business!"

Members Mediterranean
Exactly the same ["retro" look]. Just bigger! [still working on the last details. About 100 layers so far, but it won't look it once you see it].

Members RichF
Just in case, I need to be the no-fun guy and make the official disclaimer: This is NOT an official Korg product, nor is the original post a statement from Korg. That being said, this is great. I really dig the gloveboxes. It kind of opens up the possibilities for prop gimmicks, if you're into that kind of thing. Please post the finished pic! Members evildragon
If it were like this, 8 poly, more knobs, aftertouch, 2-3 pedal inputs, then yeah, it would be megacool!

Members Mediterranean
I forgot to mention another important feature. The control panel can be lifted up [45 degrees max] for much better viewing. Note: the electronics are completely boxed and secured in an internal compartment. When the panel is lifted, nothing can be accessed from the back, nor seen other than the logos "KORG" and "macroKORG" [same as those on front panel] facing the audience. ED, the aftertouch is covered. Designing the rear panel in accordance with the front appearance and the description I made will be more complicated. Same with modifying/adding more knobs. But I will see what I can do when I get a chance:)
Members ChristianRock
Does the 76-key version of this allow you to put an M3-M next to it in the same keybed?

Members Mediterranean
Mediterranean is THE Photoshop god of KSS! lol Michael. Thank you, but I wish. Believe it or not, I only know 10% or so about Photoshop. I wish I had taken a class in it when I was in college. Not only would I be much more proficient at it today, I would have learned how to use MAC computers also:cry: Heck, knowing what I know now [about job opportunities, or lack thereof], I wish I had majored in it. Graphic artists live very comfortably. You, on the other hand and foot, are the God of melodic music composition on here!

Don't listen to the man behind the curtain. It's most certainly a real Korg product because they got all of my letters and emails about the joystick. They listened! They listened! It's real. I'm positive of it. I'll call Korg to order right away! -Mc

Members Mediterranean
Can somebody tell me if you can see the pic I posted here? It disappeared. I tried 2 different browsers in vain. Here's the macroKORG with a lever instead of wheels. Perfect for Roland users who haven't tried Korg yet. Members McHale
pic came out OK but the Roland joystick blows. Korg's is a 4 way and has a more precise feel. Just sayin'.
Members zzzxtreme
what about "aftertouch" wheels? I can not only roll the wheels, but also press them
Members Mediterranean
P.S: instead of wheels, we will include a joystick in only one macroKORG unit. We don't want to lose McHale's business! And finally, the XLE [Xtremely Limited Edition] version, with a joystick. Only one unit was manufactured at McHale's request!
