Members DylanWilde
What's good out there? I remember the GEM RP-X made some great impressions when it came out, but I can't seem to find those anywhere at the moment. I've also already got a Kurzweil board, so, while I'm open to those units, I'm looking for something slightly different. In terms of sound, an excellent acoustic piano and Rhodes sound is really all I need. Also, the cheaper the better, if possible.

Also, the cheaper the better, if possible. Cheaper is rarely better. Maybe try a Roland SonicCell, which has some nice piano and Rhodes sounds, and if they're not good enough, when budget permits, you can expand its sounds with optional SRX cards to get better piano and Rhodes sounds. Members DylanWilde
Hmmm. . . Well, without considering price, what is simply the most accurate and vibrant sounding hardware module out there for piano sounds?
Members TechEverlasting
Without considering price? Definitely a Receptor running Ivory (or some other huge sample library.) Ivory is one of the apps that the Receptor excels at, it really is the ultimate piano module. In terms of practical options, +1 for the Sonic Cell, possibly with the SRX 11 and 12 piano and rhodes cards.
Members DylanWilde
I think I may go with a Kurzweil MicroPiano on this one, but one question : Are the patches on par with the ME-1 module? I've got the keyboard version of the ME-1 and am wondering if the MP will match the quality of what I've been working with in that board.
Members Nightsynth
I have an Oberheim MiniGrand that I will sell to you if you are interested. I think it is much more accurate and expressive than the MicroPiano. Niether the MiniGrand nor the MicroPiano have decent Rhodes sounds.
Members pinkfloydcramer61
I disagree, I think Kurzweil Micropiano patch #14 is a good Rhodes sound-a little on the soft side, though. The ME-1 has some very nice Rhodes too, but most thin out pretty badly in the upper register.
