Hi All

just asking on behalf of the keyboard player in our band whether there is a way to get free sheet music or is there some sort of TABS for keys out there.....any ideas would be appreciated.

we are playing covers and am curious as to hows others learn songs without buying large amounts of sheet music.

thanks for the help

cheers dave

There are some free sheets out there.

Just have to search. Most of the time, you are brought to a commercial sheet music site. Often, these sites give you the first page free. I have purchased several sheets because of this. Other times, I just figured out the whole song from the first page.

If you just need to pick up the chord progression, search for, say, "Light My Fire Chords" in your search engine.

If you are looking for transcriptions of solos, good luck. Most commercial sheet music does a lousy job of this, at the exorbitant price of $5 or $6 a sheet.

There are other sites, I think pianofiles.com is one, which is a sheet music sharing service. You join the site, and pdf copies of sheet music that you own. Other members email you individually for these copies, and you can email them for copies that they own, etc.

I should start a separate thread on copyright laws. If you already paid money for the LP or CD, why should you have to pay for the digital sheet music? How many times does an artist deserve a royalty for delivering the same product. I have mixed feelings about this topic.
