Members Darrel
When I'm performing live with my Roland XP 80 the sustain will sometimes automatically come on without my pressing the sustain pedal and the only way to shut it off is to rapidly change the program or patches and then go back to my orginal patch. I'm not sure what is causing this problem but it's annoying and irritating especially when I'm perfroming live on stage. Can anyone figure out this problem? Members Mediterranean
Welcome to the forum:) It sounds like a contact problem, especially if you've been using it live for a long time [worn out, dirty innards, etc]. Try to take it apart to see if you can spot a mechanical problem. It could be electrical too [a short, etc]. And while you're at it, remove the dust, hair and debris that you will find inside. For now, and instead of changing patches to fix the problem, try to step on the pedal to "unstick" it. If that works, at least you'll know the problem is the pedal, not the keyboard:)
Members mrcpro
No it's not a pedal problem. My XP-80 does the same thing and I've never been able to figure out why. It just does it, and I just live with it although it's annoying.
Members ammasgold
Hi,I have a Roland XP 80 it has the exact problem you described. I've had it repaired multiple times. It's horrible when that problem happens while performing live...especially when I'm playing Strings. I've noticed the problem happens more in hot & humid climates. Does anybody have any idea what could be causing this problem and how to repair it permanently? Could it be a problem with the sustain input? Another problem is that now the keyboard is no longer recognizing the expansion cards - Asia card & Orchestral card. Does anyone know why & how to fix this? Thanks
Members j_e_f_f_g
What brand of sustain pedal are you using? Different pedals have different resistors in them, and some don't work well with certain keyboards.
Members ammasgold
Actually, I don't use a pedal at all!!! So I'm wondering why this problem should occur.
Members bcarbon
Same problem here with my XP80, and I'm using no sustain pedal. If someone finds the cause of the problem let me know! Annoying when it happens live!
Members mate_stubb
Sounds like stuck midi notes rather than sustain pedal issues - especially if it happens with no sustain pedal plugged in. Is there a midi panic button on the keyboard, and does pressing it kill the notes?
Members trevcda
There is such a thing. I haven't seen mine in years. I think Anatek was the brand. I'm sure many others also make/have made one. It's basically an all notes of command. http://www.dlse.nl/occasions/synthesizer/pocket_panic.html
Members -groovatious-
Same problem here on my XP-30. Happens even though I don't use a sustain pedal with the unit.

Members -groovatious-
I wonder what the solution is? I did a full reset but the problem persists, so it must be a hardware fault.
