Synth/Keyboard Recommendations with looper

Hi there,

I'm not a guitarist who is now playing the keyboard ;) but I am in fact simply a pianist, who is about to move out in a few months. I currently have a Technics electronic piano (I think, I've sprained my knee so can't check I'm afraid!) and generally just use the piano and drum sounds on it, as well as the looper function, which lets me build up fairly large looping arrangements and is pretty vital to how I compose, however the piano cannot come with me and I'm looking for a cheaper much more portable replacement.

I also recently got to try a Roland XP-30 out and loved the synths on it, and feel that with a decent synth keyboard I could expand my styles blah blah blah

So I would like your recommendations on what is the best keyboard/synth that I can get (I have about $800/$900) that has a looping function, decent weighted keys and perhaps has some awesome sounds like the Roland SP-30 (though not a KEY thing) as well as being able to fit in my car and be taken to gigs and whatnot!

I have looked at the following:

Casio Privia PX-330

Roland GW8

Roland SH-201

Yamaha MM6

So your opinion on any of those as well as any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

You're not likely to get much help here about the GW8, as it's an arranger keyboard and they're not popular with the regulars here.

The SH201 doesn't sound like what you're looking for. It's a virtual analog synth intended to mimic the old analog synths of the '80s. It won't do realistic acoustic sounds, just electronic sounds. . No weighted keys either, just has a synth action keyboard.

Can't comment on the Casio.

The Yamaha might work. It has an onboard sequencer, and offers a lot of "tradiational" instrument sounds.
