Members tspit74
As everyone knows, I have tons of analogue keys but I've never actually had to get any of them serviced. However, many of them are getting a bit long in the tooth tuning-wise. I've fated around with tuning and scaling the Pro-One, but I'm not satisfied with the results. Anyone know what I should reasonably expect to pay to have my monosynths professionally tuned and scaled? My Rogue's scaling is pretty out of whack, but I bought it that way and haven't really needed to use it. But hell, I've got 'em. I may as well have them firing on all cylanders, Dig? Members Plink Floyd
I don't know what a tech would charge to do it, but the step-by-step procedure for the Rouge is in the manual. It also says all the adjustments are accessible without opening the case. As long as no components having to do with tuning have drifted or failed, it should be doable. The manual calls for using a freq counter, but if I didn't have one I'd do it by ear. If you followed the procedure for the Pro-1 and it still isn't right, there's probably something else wrong. But why futz around with those crotchety old coal fired synths? Send them to me and I'll see that they get a proper burial.
Members ElectricPuppy
Yes, it sounds like your synths have passed their expiration date. If you send them to me, I'll see that they're disposed of properly. (Ignore that Plinky dude, he's just trying to get freebies. I'm actually offering a useful service.) I followed the manual (kind of). It all works right. I just don't have any fancy schmancy oscilloscopes or freq counters. I was going completely by ear and just basically fooling around to see if I could do it. This was a couple years ago too. I still play it. It's just not as good as it could be. I haven't messed with the Rogue yet. I think part of it is laziness. The other part is having 2 kids 6 and below. By the time I could fart around with my synths and do really precise adjustments, my nerves are shot and my energy level at zero. I'd just like them tip top for when I fire them up and screw around at a moment's notice. Of course, I could take one to a shop and actually have it done. But everytime I save a couple hundred to have some work done, I find another toy in a resale shop, garage sale, or craigslist...

Except to warn you against sending those old synths to Cali. They'll be impounded and destroyed at the border because they contain lead based solder. Soon after, you'll be spirited away in the night by a stealth squadron of young men who all look suspiciously like the ex-Gov. If you're lucky, you'll get manual labor for life cleaning cages in a secret underground spotted owl breeding ranch.
