Members EerieDreamZ
Hi guys, I actually have a real question to ask for the first time in years lol I have a pair of older KRK rockit sapeakers powered by an equally older Hafler Ta1600 amplifier (150 watts). I noticed a buzz (constant) coming from my left speaker and did my usual checking to see if there were any wires crossed, power cords hanging over speaker cords etc and nothing out of the ordinary. I swapped out the left and right connections and the buzz moved to the right speaker. Is this indicative of the amp going bad? Something that could be fixed maybe? Or is it time to move to a newer setup? Many thanks in advance Me

Or is it time to move to a newer setup?Did you unplug the inputs to the amp to see if the buzz goes away? Might be coming from something before the amp. If it is the amp, it can be fixed. Hum is usually just a bad filter cap. Any reputable shop should be willing to give you an estimate.
Members ElectricPuppy
Yeah, swap the inputs to the amp and see if the buzz moves. If so, then the problem is before the amp. If it's the amp, I second Plink's assessment.
Members EerieDreamZ
I swapped the cables out from the left side to the right and the buzz changed sides. Its an old amp, and Ive been thinking of getting an upgrade to new amp and speakers, or perhaps the self powered monitors. Thanks for the help guys
Members Plink Floyd
Wait... If you swapped the amp input cables and the buzz went to the other side, then the amp's ok.
Members nice keetee
maybe you need new cables aka wires only?
