Members Conbrio
I'm sure this topic comes up once in awhile, but I thought it might be fun to see how many odd, unique, or rare synths we can find. I'll go first and post this one--the Beilfuss Step Synth. Even found a rather boring demo. [video=youtube;m2w1BBXXXhE]
Members AnalogGuy
ASI Synthia! Looks so awesome! Any other synth containing 4 vector joysticks?
Members Casio Man
ASI Synthia! Looks so awesome! Any other synth containing 4 vector joysticks? Hartmann Neuron. But touchscreen in 1982. That must have costed grand mothers. Even its specs sheet costs money! I would pay to even see a demo of it.
Members xpander
hartmann neuron is another useful addition to the list:

Members Purity_Control
I never heard of that one either. Alpha Syntauri - Great idea but about 15 years ahead of it's time. And needs iirc an Apricot computer and software to run. [video=youtube;dBOqzHQObnw]

Members tim gueguen
There's probably more chance of me becoming US President than there is of that thing hitting the market. He's been working on it for almost 30 years.

Members Conbrio
I actually played one of these rare classics from the 80's.

Members the_big_e
Does it count if I built my own? No pics or anything tho so no 'proof' because this was waaay back around 1980 or so. I used an Acorn Atom computer (which a whopping 12 K of ram!) for the software (mix of basic and 6502 assembler), an keybed I used for another synth I built that I tore apart (built from circuits in some magazine back then) and a sound chip from a video game (I use the term 'video game' loosely). Only monophonic but I did program a sequencer into it Somehow it never got into 'production' though!

Members Purity_Control
Ionic performer Now that really is a little obscurity. Someone did a vst version of it, no idea how it compares to a not-quite-VCS3 as my computer hates it.

Members Purity_Control
Supposedly it's the guts of a VCS3 with a few tweaks, a keyboard and switches in place of the pin matrix. That Peavey btw sounds bloody awful.
Members Purity_Control
And the keyboard they made as well. Wow! Program in realtime the waveform! [video=youtube;GtAMYafil2Q] [video=youtube;_riWZq1tyrs] Great idea, not sure these demos are really giving a very good idea of what it can do: [video=youtube;smZ96Kg1hhg]
Members Casio Man
Wow! Program in realtime the waveform! I have always wanted to draw my wave forms and partials. That Synthia does this too: http://www.synthony.com/vintage/synthia.html Makes me wonder, what's taking so long at Korg to actually use that touch screen for anything. Especially as they like to use resistive screens, that would allow accurate tinkering with "stylus"(without additional cost).
Members Conbrio
I have always wanted to draw my wave forms and partials. That Synthia does this too: From what I recall, you could do that with a Fairlight as well.
Members Casio Man
Yes! I was going to mention it, but thought that Fairlight was too familiar for this thread....but no, that was far too awesome(ly expensive scifi) for not to mention in this thread. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ECFOTQvjsQ&feature=related Perhaps the new one will be obscure and unique ~$20,000 synth: Does the iPad app have any kind of drawing going on?
