Members Yogesh2708
Hello friends.. I am going to buy a used keyboard casio wk 1200 at very cheap price of 6000 INR. I'm a beginner and haven't used a big size piano yet, so I don't know many of the features of such a keyboard and what are they used for. Actually I'll have to travel a long distance to reach to buyers home to buy the keyboard. As this is very cheap I doubt that there may be some effect in the piece so I thought to directly buy from buyer after checking its condition instead of buying it by courier. So please tell me WHAT FUNCTIONS OF THIS KEYBOARD SHOULD I NEED TO CHECK TO ASSURE ITS REAL CONDITION? Also is it possible that keyboard works fine but MIDI doesn't work? Because I don't know if seller has midi hub and other accessories to connect to keyboard and test right at seller's home. Please tell me what are the accessories I should ask for to the seller eg. Midi hub, usb cable etc Thanks..
Members techie
a) i would say first of all you should go through each button and key, press them and make sure they function properly b) spend some time reading WK1200 manual - http://www.manualslib.com/manual/358588/Casio-Wk-1200.html#manual this might give you a hint, what functions has to be checked c) Also is it possible that keyboard works fine but MIDI doesn't work? - theoretically it is possible, but sounds unlikely. d) Please tell me what are the accessories I should ask for to the seller eg. Midi hub, usb cable etc Thanks.. From what i see in the manual Casio WK1200 does not have USB connectivity, only regular MIDI in & out ports. To test them you would need 5-pin cable (see photo below) and some device that can a) receive MIDI from WK1200 b) send midi to WK1200 Ask your seller if he has any other musical device with MIDI in and out ? Members techie
Or alternatively you could ask your seller if he has a computer and USB-MIDI adapter. If he does you could ask him to conect WK1200 to computer (see picture below) and test MIDI sending and receiving using computer software.
