Members Left Of Cool
Alright, well I was recently in a relationship thats now over. While I was in it, everytime we had some sort of fight, or anytime I ever felt some emotions, i figured Id try and write some song lyrics. I was lookign through the stuff i wrote, and this stuck out to me. Seemed pretty decent. I'm assuming I wrote it during one of our fights but Im not even sure heh. Let me know what you think: Sometimes when you do somethingYou figure it might cost nothingAnd sometimes when you do somethingYou tell yourself it will cost nothing And sometimes, you dont thinkAnd sometimes, you should thinkWe're all in this togetherFor worse, or for better And when you feel like it's overthere's still hope And when you feel like it's overthere's still hope Good times come and goAnd in between times, they'll make a showThe bad times always feel like theyre foreverBut time always makes the time go away And when you feel like it's overthere's still hope And when you feel like it's overthere's still hope
Members Michael Martin
I have to admit that lyrics without music are very hard to make judgments about--some of my favorite songs would probably have looked very unappealing to me if I had seen them as lyrics-only and never heard the whole song. But a comment about your lyrics, considering the background you provided: why be so vague as to what you are writing about? Consider some detail that provides the listener with something imageable. An example: in Third Eye Blind's "How's It Gonna Be", the singer mentions, almost in passing, something about a hammock by the door that is now empty--a hammock which we understand that he used to share with the girl who is now presumably his ex--and that to me was an especially poignant and memorable image. I actually "see" that forlorn hammock in that forlorn house when I hear the song, and it's very sad to imagine how they once were so intimate and playful that they would actually frolic in it together...and now all is lost...you get the idea.
