messing around with odd time

what I was trying to do was write a section that goes into odd time withut it sounding like it's in odd time. Obviously if you are counting along you can tell something is up. But to the casual dancing person just bopping along, I want to see how strange I can make something before they stop dancing. :freak:

The guitar part is going to be re-written, the one I put down is just to show the direction of the song...

random song bit

so does that sound completely strange, or if it was stuck in the middle of an otherwise standard 4/4 tune would you probably just not even notice it?

I really like it! It reminds me a lot of some early "Yes" stuff from their "Relayer" days.

What I am hearing is primarily 4/4, and a few spots that alternate with 3/4. So that won't throw people off their dancing, because the basic beat unit remains the same. Are you looking to throw a wrench in it for your listeners? If so, I was thinking that a few well-placed 3/8 bars would do the trick. That would be unique while still maintaining a bit of a relationship with what came before. (Some 3/16 figures would be really neat.)
