I'm not especially qualified to comment on music from outside of my element, so take anything I say with a grain of Caucasian-American salt.

Both of these songs seem to kind of limp along rhythmically; the drums and the guitars never seem to get together and "groove". It sounds like you don't quite get the two on the same beat very often. I have this problem, too, when I multi-track myself, especially when I use a click track. It just sounds a little off-kilter in a lot of places.

The first song (the leaving) doesn't seem to have a musical "hook". I'm not even sure if that is a relevent concept, or if the hook is lost in translation, but I don't hear it.

I really like the idea of the lyrics--you have something worth saying there, but not understanding Turkish, I can only hope it was said well (you said you record in Turkish, right?)

I also really like the timbres you use in both recordings--the guitar tones are different enough from one another to be distinct, but they still sit well together. The drums have a good sound as well.

thanks moses

the songs I post on the net are the copyrighted ones.I have several demos, among them Khayyam is the only one that is as a whole( all the songs in the demo) copyrighted. It is in Persian and Turkish.

Some of the things you observe may be related with the difference of musical traditions and some with my musical preferences.

I have a general attitude towards writing anything. If they, lyrics and music, can exist on their own when seperated, thats enough for me.I never try to force one into the other.

I have not much skill in the performance(also theoritical) side of the music, I cant play any of the instruments well in the professional sense.I have only my ear to depend upon.I sometimes get crazy when ? cant perform what my ears want.

although I hate midi sounds,I always include a continues midi drum track in the songs and then try to enforce the rythmical changes in the song by adding percussive instruments.when ? dont do that the song really stumbles rythmically.

I want all the instruments to have their individual existance, that may be the reason why they sound discordant.

what the hell is a 'timbre', anyway

"Timbre" is a little like tone: the qualities of the sound. If you have a flute and a kazoo playing the same pitch at the same volume, the timbre (pronounced "tamber") is how you would tell them apart.

"Discordant" isn't really what I meant. It sounds like the rhythms don't quite line up.

Interesting stuff again. But Monk's right, it's not quite to western taste so it's hard for many people to rave about. You sound more confident with your voice. What you need is to trust yourself to write some english lyrics. Consider mistakes to be poetic license :)
