I made a video of a song I'm working on for a band I just started with my friends. We are psychedelic rock so this may not be your cup of tea. I'm using my new Boss Loop Station for the backing track of this song. keep in mind i'm only 17 years old.

right on, man.

negatives first: the only thing i can really say is about the packaging: that was kind of nothing to watch, since it was just (to the world) a kid playing some lead to a pre-recorded rhythm track. we know how guitar players look when they play guitar. nothing new. for now, i'd drop the visuals and keep it in the audible realm.

that being said, i think you've got a great ear for melody and you're going to be {censored}ing scary when you get a few stage years behind you.

i really dug it; most kids your age play as fast as they can. you said psychedelic rock and you embraced the style - well. i was interested in your leads practically 100% of the time. (for me, that's rare).

IMHO, bag the video for a while. it was a little pointless. concentrate on developing your song idea since it's just a song idea at this point. piecing this into a good dynamic work is not going to be as easy as what you just did, so get your band together, do the work, record and post again. you have my interest. i want to hear where it's going to go.

for now, good work man,

g

ps - when i was 17, i was busy singing love songs on the acoustic guitar in an effort to get girls to fellate me.

I agree with bluesway (as usual!) that the video is a little pointless... but the playing is pretty sound and shows you have talent.

really like the section with the harmonics...

My only othe criticism is that in certain parts of the song the playing is a little too continuous for my tastes. Icanonlyexplainbysayingthatifyoucanimaginemetalkinglikethiswithnopunctuationorpausesafterawhileitbecomesabitboring... apply this to your soloing a bit more. dont be afraid to not play at times and to break up your solo into shorter phrases. a great solo / melody is often as much about what you dont play as what you do.

anyway, keep up the good work! and make sure you post another clip of your playing soon

good luck

Amazing! Exellent stuff. Round where I stay the bands put very little thought and imagination into original material. I could close my eyes and listen to that for ages! :thu:

I'm 16 - note the lack of experienced negative comments! :D

Great stuff though! keep it going - I would buy it!

i've always wondered how that works - music has brought me nothing of that sort, ever. it's pretty strange considering the fact that i am fairly evil.

anyway, bluesway is spot on, you are playing a guitar solo that is not wanky at the age of 17; consider that that itself is an accomplishment.
