Members janusmanus
I liked the mood and flow of the potentiel song.I guess it has also potential lyrics to it. the piece is arranged as an elctric distorted solo on a certain chord prgression and is somewhat very much bare, minimally orchestrated and developed. as an instrumental piece, ? am not the right person to provide the relevant service but ? ear-witnessed two problems.one of them is guitar solos the substreaming guiatr and drum begins to get repetitious and monotonous due to lack of variation in dvelopement.the other is the problematic electric solo.I am far from being a good player myself,it sometimes sounded too messy and awkward.a better orchestration and playing may invigorate the otherwise scanty range of the song.for an electric solo fan it may be sufficient(ignoring the performance) but for me it has to provide variety and more dynamics. with the addition of vocals it may become larger as a song. Members spiltmilk_2000
Hi Macman, for me this did become a little monotonous im afraid. aside from just a couple of 'jazz' notes here and there i thought some of the playing was really nice (some lovely bends, pinch harmonics, and you have a really tastefull vibrato that really makes your notes sing!) but for my money it needs some vocals to stop if being like a long solo that doesnt really go anywhere. Then if you intersperse a few of those licks in amongst the vocals and can still have a solo section or two with no vox but it will give it a bit of direction. then you can use the solo(s) to take it from one section to the next which will make it easier to put better 'shape' and 'form' to them. Does that make sense? damn i struggle to explain my thoughts sometimes :-( Also, in my humble opinion lose the little tapping section! For me there is no place in 'blues' for that kinda thing Robert Johnson wouldnt approve I really do think this shows great promise as a kinda blues ballad 'song' though if you can come up with the right vocals well done dude! russ x
Members macman01
thx Russ Great feedback man. You are right on all counts. I listened again to it last nite and thought the tapping sounded....well cheesy I was out of ideas so threw in some tapping.....I like the jazz stuff but u can easily go wildly out of key whilst incorporating jazz stuff. I need to Work on that a lot more. I had fun doing it and it is part of my practice regime to record over this track now. Here is a link to the Backing track for you all to try out: http://www.digitech.com/soundcomm/guitar_view_music.asp?productid=215&music_id=2233
Members noguud
I think the playing is excellent, lots of little pauses and harmonics/embellishments to give the solo some real character. The recording and mixing is great too, this sounds GREAT played LOUD through a good system, and has a real nice bass foundation. In my humble opinion the tapping works, but doesn't go on long enough, and should probably lead into a faster paced run. It sorta speeds up and then just stops. I'd say keep building on that then come back down to the regular pace. Just my two cents...good work though. I can't get guitar sounds that good out of my RP2000...maybe I need to look at their newer models? I assume you use a GNX something or other...
