Verse 1

I came home early from work and found her packin' our thing's

On the table was a note and her diamond ring

It became quite clear to me

That the girl was fixin' to leave

And it was plain to see she wasn't waitin' for me

Verse 2

She said "It's over and I don't wanna fight"

She was hopin' to slip away in the night

If it's over I'm OK with that

It won't be me who tries hold you back

And what I have to say I can say while you pack

Chorus

Take the bed, take the sofa, take the chair that reclines

Take all your fav-o-rite records that used to be mine

Pack the dishes and the stereo

TV set and remote control

Take it all right down to my very last dime

But baby don't take your time

I like it. The chorus is really good. The verses need some work. One question: if you came home early and caught her leaving, how was she "hopin' to slip away in the night"?

He came home early from work and found her packing. She left a note and her diamond ring on the table implying that she didn't want to face him. If he had not surprised her by coming home early she would have been gone when he got home.

That is at least the picture I am trying to paint.

One thing I am gradually realizing is that it's really up to you if you like the song...

Of course you can get advice and suggestions - which I'm sure you're after- but my own problem is a lack of confidence... as in, I like it, but should I like it.

Don't fall down that trap:cry:
