With all due respect

This is another song I wrote.

Every ruin tells a story

Of fallen plans from long ago

Fallen men from every country

Who sold their duty and their soul

Every building has a background

Of architectural geniusity

Innocent victims gone for nothing

All due to political stupidity

With all due respect please tell me now

Of all the things that go on and on

Hold my hand and swear to me

To tell the truth while i'm around

Every man may be a legend

By the things that he had done

And after the moment that he passed

He will be missed by the people that he loved

Every note that was played

In every song by a rock'n'roll band

Will never seize to exist

And for that I can really be glad

With all due respect remember me

Because any minute can be my time

So please my friend let me say to you

This is my last goodbye

Well, there's clearly a message in the lyrics and some interesting ideas and images. Reading it from the page (never the best way to appreciate the fullness of a song) makes me wonder how lyrics would fall against the music -- it's tough to imagine a delivery where some of those lines would work rhythmically.

One specific thing: I'm usually pretty forgiving with partial rhymes but... geniusity / stupidity...

I dunno, man. I don't mind making up a word and I don't mind partial rhymes but this really seems like such a stretch that the listener is going to stop in their tracks and roll the track back a jog or two just to see if they heard right. And, honestly, I can't even imagine how you pronounce geniusity so that it even kind of rhymes with stupidity -- unless you move the consonants and vowels around even more.

Anyhow, sorry to go on about one point, but I guess that just goes to show you what a stumbling block it could be. Maybe it won't bother anyone else.

Anyhow, I think you've got lots to work with here. And if you should already have a recording of it, I'd be really interested in hearing how the lyrics do work against the music. Maybe I'm worried about nothing. ;)

i am pretty sure geniusity is not a word

i guess i am left wondering what exactly the point of the song is ... i like the images, and i think i roughly understand the issues the song raises ... but i am not sure there's any closure

if that makes any sense
