Members blue2blue
Whatever tech difficulty Marko was having seems to have not hit me as I listened to this. Slow and stately (I think it's the piano that gives it that stately feeling ), this track unfolds around the husky, smokey sound of a bluesy lead. Just about as I was going to write that maybe it needed to trade off some of the foreground work from the guitar to the piano, the balance shifted (briefly) to the piano, which set things up for a departure into a more expansive, free-ranging solo. The sawtoothy synth part helps bring in some new texture and helps sustain the length a little better but the part is a little 'blocky' (sounds like you're playing big block chords with little filigree or variation)... I wonder if maybe playing less notes on the synth but getting more movement/melodic/contrapuntal elements into them might make them seem less ponderous/weighty and move things forward a little better. Also, while the sound you're using screams I've got a synth and I'm not afraid to use it (which is a good thing, in many ways, seems to me) -- that classic sound combined with a classic seventies approach to guitar instrumental writing may make this sound a bit dated. Or, on the other hand, it might sound retro... and that would be cool, right? Electric guitar oriented instrumentals, it's always seemed to me (as a guitarist and a creator of a number of instrumentals) are like the glass mountain of instrumental creation... The territory is so well trod, and, frankly, there are so many respectable but uncompelling guitar instrumentals out there that it's really a challenge coming up with something that sounds fresh and vital. Heaven knows I've fallen far short of that goal most times I've tried.

Members Boydog
thanks guys,Blue I may try and remix a bit and see if I can bring the keys out. Redoing the synth won't be a problem and there's a part where the guitar is high in the neck and I'm not at all satisfied with the results, the tone is ok I was looking for that kinda silky violin effect and didn't quite make it. The replies are the reason I post, I really wanted to get outside oppinion on this because I do think it has potiential. Being a guitarist it's hard sometimes to know when you may have to much guitar in a song especially in an instrumental which is another reason I like getting outside info.Come to think of it, I suppose the reason any of us posts our songs is mainly for others observations and remarks, so we can become more aware of the how's and why's to make it better. Marko,Glad you could be there where ever it was
Members karma279
Yeah.. the "low fi" sounds like someone pissing for a couple seconds. The "hi fi" plays. Sounds good. Maybe a little too much synth...Vocals could really open it up
Members Boydog
Sounds good. Maybe a little too much synth...Vocals could really open it up My first thoughts on this song were to make a long jam out it. I've been a little shall I say, lacking on lyrics lately but you're right something ( I'm thinking unusual ) would work great.I'm rethinking it and will probably redo it leaving room for lyrics and possibly getting someone to collab on another guitar part. I can take some of the synth out and replace with keys it's something to think about anyway
Members Elias Graves
Needs words! Maybe that should be our next songwriting endeavor: Write words for "Don't Go." Very slick! EG
