ASCAP? BMI? SESAC? Unless you're a fortune teller, flip a coin.

I'm with ASCAP. When I call them on the phone, they're always willing to help me.

I had a problem with one publisher delaying registration of some of my tracks that were getting TV plays. I phoned ASCAP, and they contacted this publisher several times urging them to register my work as soon as possible. Finally got registered. Also, ASCAP will go back six months on missed royalties (not sure about BMI or SESAC).

There is no initial fee or yearly fees with ASCAP.

Thanks. I think I'll sign up with ASCAP.

I'm signed with ASCAP. I get a quarterly report. It usually says they don't owe me anything.

You do, however, get a membership card that can get you discounts on musical gear, if you know where to shop.

As far as which is better, ASCAP or BMI.....as someone already said, flip a coin. Some publishers have both....under two slightly different names. That way they can work with songwriters from either association.
