Nice poem!!!

I Don't know if it'd work as a song. Just so many words.

Also, there aren't many good popular songs about baseball. It's kind of a hammy topic in the wrong hands. Kind of like songs that drop the word "Rock n Roll."

There's that Line in American Pie about Joe D. That worked. And Belle and Sebastian had a song that names checks Mike Piazza, which was cool. I can't think of any others.

...that was mere no hitter...only 18 perfect games in the history of baseball and that catch was classic.

Hey now, Sanchez's no hitter was pretty much a perfect game. He didn't walk anyone, the only person that got on base was due to an error made by Uribe. In other words, Sanchez pitched a perfect game, but it was messed up by the third baseman.

Wait, where am I? Isn't this the ESPN forums?

Cool poem!

I've been thinking of writing a series of dirges about my beloved team, the New York Mets.

At least it won't be as painful as the past couple of years because they can't lose the division on the last day of the season again (since they probably won't even be in contention to win the division because of all their injuries and inconsistent play).

Oh, and Matximus:

The Joe DiMaggio lines you might be thinking of were in "Mrs. Robinson", by Simon & Garfunkel - there's no mention of Joe (or baseball, really, unless you count "it landed foul on the grass") in "American Pie".
