Without real instruments. The raw conventions of songwriting are morphing at the keyboard to synths and emulations - all cheesy - but the point is they are the new tools. You don't need real instruments; just the melody making stuff in your head. The real instruments and singers can be brought in later and filtered to suit. This is not what we want to hear as an audience urgently desiring an embracing affiliation with the heart's work from a particular artist. But, those are the new rules of engagement on completely different beachheads. Not a bad thing, just new and sometimes hard to accept.

Do what now?
