Moderators Lee Knight Posted November 15, 2013 Moderators Share Posted November 15, 2013 I'm going to forever designate this past Wednesday, 11-13-13, as WTF Day here at the HC Songwriting Forum. To any that haven't, join in today! Hey! You never know what kind of silliness you might find yourself covered in!________________ Facebook. The modern day time suck. But... sometimes you reconnect with people you just wouldn't have had the chance to. These guys, old buddies The Puppies, signed to Stiff in 1980. Irene on drums, Richard as the great facilitator and alt ld vox and writing, Nino on good vibes, beer and bass, Jimmy on guitar, DANE CONOVER on mad genius keyboard and writing and singing and... Dane was the guy that you'd say, "Where were you all last week?" and he'd say, "Out in in the desert with XXX, XXX and XX. We XXXXXXXXXXXXXX. And you say, "You did what?!?!?! for a week?!?!?" A short in stature, very tall in ingenuity sort of guy. Mowhawks, bald, blue hair, big glasses, freakouts on the stage floor, in the audience while singing, in the bathroom while singing. Dane was like the nerdy new waver channeling Iggy. Without any BS. Awesome to watch on stage. And a close friend to our band at the time. I went on to back him on bass in his live band for his MCA release, Trees. The Puppies rule! From 1980, this is not the produced up version for Stiff but the local release we all love around these parts.
Members rsadasiv
Timing is everything - Curtis is so late on the two, but it sounds great.

I'll see your Puppies and raise you some Dogs...Among the many Detroit area transplants to LA in the 70s were seminal punkers, The Dogs...

Moderators Lee Knight Posted November 16, 2013 Author Moderators Share Posted November 16, 2013 I love that Detroit big sound in a punk context. Never heard them but I like it. Iggy, MC5 etc. and almost a pre Dead Boys slant. Cool
