Im building a guitar (variax circuit with passive pickups)

ok im building a guitar, but im putting in a line 6 Variax circuit so I can have all the V-axe sounds and regular pickups. Its going to look like a strat, but instead of the input jack...it will have the Vax model selector knob there, and three normal looking knobs like a strat.

A problem im runninging into is with the knobs. I want a total of 4 knobs, one for the Variax selector knob, and the other three to be the Variax VOlume, Variax tone, passive volume, passive tone.

thats four variables, but only three knobs left.

Ok, so it has to have one weird Variax model selector knob.

then I want a Variax volume and tone knob...but because of the nature of the Vax, the values used for the pots of these knobs are different than a traditional pot.

SO could I have teh variax volume knob, then the variax tone...

then could I have the last knob be for BOTH the passive volume and tone?

How could I achieve this? Concentric knobs, with a dual pot?

Could I use a push pull pot for this?

also, are there any concentric knobs that look like a common strat knob? Ive only seen metal ones so far.

also if you could explain to me how the concentric knobs, push pull, and the pots that go with them work, it would be appreciated!

thanks.

yeah, when I think of push-pull, I think of like coil taps and wire options...

could someone explain how this works. Im not the the wireing and some of the technical stuff about the guitar.

thanks.

what other types of switching and pot options are out there

are there any companies that make a concentric knob that looks like a strat knob, where maybe the bottom bell does one thing and the top does the other? I know thats odd, but I prefer their look.

The push-pulls are basically a pot and a switch together in one package. Rotating the knob turns the pot; pulling it up and pushing it down controls the switch.

The only concentric pot/knob combos I've seen have been more Tele style. You might be able to carefully cut a Strat knob into two and attach it to the concentric pot though?
