Adding a Switch to an MXR 10band Eq

This sound as simple as i think it will be?

Friend of mine was given a 10band MXR eq, one of the blue ones with the 3prong plug wired right into it.

No switch for on/off though. Hed rather use it only when hes using his distortion channel

I figure itd be easy, DPDT switch.

Anything i should watch out for?

I'd put it in a loop with the distortion box and switch the whole loop. Putting in a switch could probably be done, even with a bypass. But for all the trouble you could get a loop switcher and do it right.

Better yet, build the loop switcher -- give you a place to put more effects.

I dont think it would be too hard, but the loop is a good idea too. I dont know if its an old pedal, but its usually best not to drill holes in vintage stuff.

But yes, i may just build a loop for it.

Its not for me, its my co guitarist, hes using it on his carvin MTS. I wnder if i could make it trigger with his channel switching seeing that he doesnt have a foot pedal for it yet
