Members scott_335
Well I spent a some time on the net, and some money in Radioshack, and some more time on my couch with a soldering gun. Here are some pics. I used a normal dpdt switch since I dont have any proper 3pdt stompswitches. Once I get some I will add an LED. My workbench. I live in an apartment so space is always an issue. I put a magazine on the coffeetable and solder away. I finished the pedal while I watched Kingdom of Heaven. Theres a tone of room, so I was thinking that I might put two or three effects in the box later on. I learned the hard way that holding the enclosure in your bare hand while drilling it can turn it into a spinning finger saw. I also absentmindedly grabbed the soldering pencil with two fingers, cigarette style. Lots of fun. Didnt do that again. I didnt feel like buying knobs so I repurposed a wire connector cap thing and used a sharpie. It works great. The blue stuff around the power jack is rubber cable from some livewire cables. Definitely not a good solution, but I had to do it someway, and I didnt feel like ordering the nice plastic ones. I also used a npn222a which was left over from some BEAM stuff I failed at a year ago. I was really disapointed the first time I tried it. It didnt work and I just thought that I had royally screwed up somewhere. I walked away for about 20 minutes, and then realized that I had never put the semiconductor in! The sound is pretty good, but I havent really tested it out at any reasonable volume. Practice is tomorrow, so I will try it then. There is a nice overdrive when its cranked. I had a lot of fun, and I am going to actually order all the correct parts, a nicer enclosure, and try to make the easy face or the orange compression clone. Thanks to Aron and everyone who has sites with helpful info on the net. (Dano)
Members NITEFLY182
Ive used those enclosures before but always thought they were a little too flimsy to step on. Otherwise cool though!
Members scott_335
Thanks! I think you could definitely stomp on it. It is crazy sharp though, and a real pain in the ass to take apart. I just realized that I also put the input jack on the left.
