Killswitch

So im a complete noob at wiring guitars. I want to run a single humbucker without a volume control or tone control, just a killswitch. Is it as easy and wiring the pickup to the output jack properly, grounding everything, and just getting a simple on/off button from radioshack and sticking it somewhere in the middle? should it come before the pickup or after?

for a kill switch, when it is switched on, you need to short the signal with the ground, and not put the switch "in the middle" in the signal wire.

one pin of the switch to ground, and one to the signal so that when you flip it, ground and signal meet. I'd put it before the jack, but I've never done a kill switch before so maybe somebody else has some input.

That's the way to do it. Although I think to no have a volume control is silly. You may not always have any other way to change your level from blasto chords to solos. (I've yet to work with a guitarist who's solo levels didn't require me to push his fader up A LOT. In the old days, players knew that the volume knob had settings between 0 and 10. Not any more.)

Thanks for the help. I knew about the grounding bit. I bought the guitar for $10, its a POS bc rich warlock, and i just want to have some fun with it. Ive never wired a guitar before, so im trying to keep it simple. Its sort of a long series of experiments, stuff i wanted to try without messing up my other guitars. Im filling a bunch of cavaties with body filler, so i want to keep it as clean as possible with no knobs. Its almost sort of a joke guitar.
