Members Seth Bean
I've really been wanting to get into building little curcuits and such, mostly pedals, but maybe other things too. Im just not sure how to go about getting started. Does anyone have any tips or suggested readings on getting started? I was thinking of getting a BYOC pedal kit and building it for practice...would you suggest that, if so which one is a good starter...? Thanks in advace... Members Sir H C
I think the BYOC kits are labeled as to the complexity, I would say try for the fuzzface one, few components, you can play with bits and change the sound, and it is a very known circuit to learn from. Check out www.geofex.com and www.diystompboxes.com (they have a whole newbie section) for more references.
Members Burningleaves
The BYOC route is a good idea. The online instructions are easy enough to follow. I have built two BYOC kits so far and both sound really cool. BYOC recomends the 250+ kit for noobs. They have online video instructions for the 250+ as well as the usual written ones. Taking your time, double checking everything and having the right tools can help keep things fun. I would recomend getting used to soldering a little bit befor jumping into one of the kits. They are easy enough to essemble but the the boards are small and (imo) require a little bit of soldering tech' to keep things clean.
