Members Fvincent
I'm currently doing up an archtop guitar (a cheap 1963 eko 100) and i've been considering replacing the awful looking pearloid scratchplate with a metal one i'd make myself. I have a floating pickup which is going back on the guitar. I kind of think it would be totally fine to make a metal scratchplate, but i've been having a few niggling doubts now that i'm getting close to having to do it. so would there be any problems having a metal scratchplate on an archtop guitar w/floating pickup? I'm considering copper/brass/aluminium/steel, any of these more suitable than others? Could the scratchplate be the ground for the wiring? or is its going to be buzzing all the time unless im touching it or vice-versa?
