Members ccdwiu
I am planning on installing a gotoh floyd rose tremolo on an old Charvel body. I am wondering if since it is not going to be an Original Floyd Rose, will I have to do some routing to get the gotoh floyd rose to fit? And will I still be able to have low action? Members DivebombInc
licensed floyd rose products generally have to fit and operate like the real thing. the distance post to post is 74mm and other things like the sustain block height should all be standard 37mm up to 42mm. it should be fine as long as your charvel had a floyd on it before. Members astr0z0mb1e2k7
Here are specs on the OFR. The string spacing on the floyd 2-3/32" (53mm). Plus the radius of all OFRs is 10". They will work with fretboard radii from 9.5" to 12" All I could find on the gotoh is the following: Stud spacing is 74mm(2-29/32"). Stud inserts are 11mm(7/16"). Unsure what the radius is nor what the string spacing is. Couldn't tell you about any routing that may need to be done but looking at these specs, it could work. The stud spacing is close. It's 74.3mm on the OFR and 74mm on the gotoh. The stud inserts on the OFR is 10.8mm as opposed to the 11mm on the Gotoh. Maybe someone with actual experience will chime in. Members ccdwiu
Getting somebody with actual experience would be awesome. I contacted Warmoth about the neck radius. I plan on using a compound 10" - 16" fretboard radius with my floyd rose. Warmoth said they have done it before.
