Members Sonic Jedi
Is there a place I can go to in order to get the specs of which tuners fit which guitar, and what the footprint looks like?
Members WRGKMC
What you do is measure the shaft diameter and lenght with a ruler. All specs are in metric or inch. You need to remove one and measure the headstock hole as well. The bushings generally have 2 sizes. The older vintage ones like keystone have press in bushings. Most newer ones have threaded bushings that screw in through the headstock. Most of those require a larger hole diameter. Recently I saw press in bushings for larger diameter holes which is something relatively new so you can put vintage tuners in place of the newer threaded style. The screw ins also have a single screw on the back for most whereas the vintage usually have 2 or may have half holes. This is where the problems come in cause theres no standard place between manufactures for that single screw. Some are at the bottom, some are on the corner, and some are spaced farther out because the casing is larger. What type tuners are you trying to replace on what type guitar?
