Members fumble fingers
I am going to try to wire up my first attempt at a fuzz pedal. I am building the thing on a breadboard first to try it out. Now for the embarrassing question: where to I connect all the grounds to? Should all the ground points just meet. Does plugging in the input and output jacks get the ground to ground? Sorry, I am a mechanical guy and not an electrical one.
Members Pillimees
Usually you'll want to connect all grounds to the enclosure (assuming it's metal). If you also use metal input/output jacks, connect grounds to the sleeve lug of either jack.
Members bali
An easy and tidy way to wire on boards is to set up a ground buss and a B+ bus. These are wires that run across the board, keep them well apart. Each circuit connection that goes to ground or B+ ties to the appropriate bus. The ground bus ties to the input or output jack case which is also tied to the housing. The B+ bus ties to either the positve battery or power supply terminal.
