Members Steve Drojo
Hello, new to DIY here. I am having a helluva time finding a used parametric eq pedal. I used to have an Ibanez PQ9 in the 80s but that is long gone, sadly! I've noticed that the Metal Zone pedal from Boss basically has a Level, Parametric eq section and Drive knobs. My question is can you take out the fizzy drive/distortion part out of the circuit and just use it as a paramatric eq(for my amp's effects loop)? How much modding would it take and/or is this even possible? Just curious.

Members el_tonto
Should be straight-forward. Remove the clipping diodes and lower the gain of the pre-amp section. If it's the MT-2 then this is the drive section so probably replace the 220k on the first opamp with maybe a 47k, and replace the 200k gain pot with maybe a 50k which should still give you a useable 'boost' range should you want it.
