I am planning on setting up another guitar () with a SSS Setup. I am buying a Prewired Pickguard from GFS, because, well, its cheaper than making your own. How would I go about switching the pickups out, step by step, and what equipment will I need. My Coldhead Soldering gun probably isn't going to cut it. No links to the Seymour Duncan Website please, he doesn't really describe what he is doing.

I'm a little confused.

If you're getting a prewired pickguard from GFS, why do you need to swap out the pickups? The GFS pickguard can be ordered with a wide variety of pickups already installed (quite nicely, I might add). All you have to do is solder the ground wire from the bridge to the can on the tone pot, and bolt it in.

Never soldered before? There are several websites that can help. Check the DIY links at the top of this forum. Could be something there; haven't looked.

I practiced soldering used pieces of wire together. A good soldering iron around 30 to 40 watts is all you need, but those 3rd hand setups make life alot easier. Wire strippers, cutters, etc. also make it easier. Course I used to be called a "jack knife" mechanic.
