Members PaoloJM
I use the guitar volume as a gain control by rolling it back.Often have problems by rolling slightly too far past the sweet spot for cleans, especially during gigs, and dropping the signal completley or hitting a slightly distorted spot. Really like the Van Halen sound and wanted by single coil sized humbucker wired straight to the jack like his but still wanted all the pick ups selectable via the 5 way as normal. Wanted two independant volume controls for the neck and middle pick ups. No need for a tone control, always set it to ten anyway. Also wanted a kill switch. Well figured out all the wiring to achieve all of this and made the mods this morning. Here's the vid This is all just guitar straight to amp. Any comments, suggestions and critisisms are welcome. Members Belva
If you're still having problems finding the sweet spot with your volume you may try a linear pot. Some people swear by 'em. Me, haven't tried 'em yet.
Members PaoloJM
Well no, I've solved that problem. That's one of the points in the video.Found the sweet spot then removed the pick guard and measured the resistance between wiper and ground and installed this permanently between ground and the bottom lug of the pot. Took a bit of time trying slightly different values to get it perfect. Now I'm guranteed to get the sweet spot every time as 0 = sweet spot.I found audio taper gives a much more flexible sweep.Kill switch is latching so still can have mute any time. Members katillac
I don't understand what it is you did to the pot. Please elaborate. I like the linked video. You must use a decent web cam or video recorder because everything sounded nice and clean. That's unexpected from a YouTube video hehe
